It should also be noted, that some of the updates to Final Cut since 2011 have been big changes, even though they were free. ![]() There is no such major shift in the cards, and now that Apple has already made a version of Final Cut Pro (X) that runs optimised on their new silicon, it seems the current version of Final Cut is here to stay. That said, though it is a very mature product, none of it's underlying technology is outdated – the original shift to Final Cut Pro X from Final Cut Pro 7 was necessitated by a shift from a 32 bit to a 64 bit software paradigm. Apple makes crazy U-turns and spins with some regularity. There is no real pattern to the release of Final Cut, so nobody here can tell you with any degree of certainty – or even make a very informed guess as to when it will have a major paradigm-shifting update. ![]()
